Finding my Hidden Talents

My name is Thandar Aung and I am currently registered at the Training and Development Center at Yangon, Myanmar. I am 20 years old and I am an only child.
I only completed middle school due to COVID-19 pandemic and various problems in my country. Since the pandemic hit, I started to feel lost and this lasted for almost 4 years. I had no idea what to do with my life and I was wasting all my time on social media. Since I am an only child, the financial and family responsibilities fall on my head. So, I tried to apply for jobs without enough experience. I got interviewed by a company but they said “you have no experience about the position” so they couldn't give me a chance. Then I was depressed a lot. I couldn’t help my parents by working.
One day, my friend who is a STARS from LP4Y recommended me to join the program. She said "it is a good training center for Youth who feel lost in their paths" and want experience in office tasks. Also she said that she got a decent job at Wall Street English after she finished the program. This pushed me to decide and register in the program at LP4Y.
My first day at TDC Yangon was Impressive
Youth who are seniors were working like professionals. I felt very inspired. LP4Y warmly welcomed me. Now I am in the program for nearly 4 months. During these months, I found my hidden talents and skills that I thought I didn't have such as public speaking, event organization, team leadership, task and time management. I became more independent and confident after joining the program.
In the Micro Company, there are 4 departments such as HR & Finance, Communication & Marketing, Partnership, and Learning & Development. I have experience working in 3 departments except for the Learning & Development department.
I thought the HR & Finance department would be a challenge for me but I realized I enjoy the tasks a lot. At first, I didn't know what kind of job position I would like to apply for. But now after joining the program at LP4Y, I have one job position in my mind and it is administrative.
For the Communication & Marketing department, there were no challenges for me because I do have experience in editing videos. I had a fan account for movies, series and idols. In this department, I improved my editing and content creation skills.
For the Partnership department, firstly communication and building networks was a challenge for me. But I overcame those challenges and participated in managing mobilization and writing scripts for online mobilization.
There is a huge difference between the person I was before the LP4Y program and the person I am now.
In conclusion, there is a huge difference between the person I was before the LP4Y program and the person I am now during the LP4Y program. There is a growth in my mindset and my behavior and an improvement in my skills and confidence.
I want to thank LP4Y's Catalysts for always guiding me. LP4Y is a second home to me. I am very happy also because I made a lot of friends here.
